About

I'm Nik, cloud infrastructure and platform engineering leader based in Auckland, currently Head of Cloud at IAG New Zealand. I run multi-cloud infrastructure and engineering services across AWS, GCP and Azure.

19 years across telco, banking and insurance, with senior roles at Sberbank, MTS, Rostelecom, Kiwibank and VEON.

I write here about platform engineering, cloud strategy, FinOps and the operational reality of building infrastructure at scale in regulated industries.

Previously in product management, now in engineering leadership. The transition gave me a bias I keep: platforms are products. Adoption is the metric. The team that uses your platform by choice is the only proof it works.

Outside work — CrossFit, mountain biking in Riverhead with my kid, and too many books about systems thinking.
